Guadiaro Shawl

Here is a crochet shawl pattern for a simple and practical little shawl. This shawl is worked from side to side and uses 2 100g skeins of 4ply yarn. You can use thicker yarn but the final size of the shawl will be bigger (which isn’t a bad thing in my books)

It uses very simple stitches, but that is the way I like my shawls, quite neutral, so that they go with anything.

Guadiaro Shawl Pattern

Yarn requirements:  2 x 100g 4ply/fingering weight yarn. I used Slavica Yarns Ragana in Parmelia colourway

Hook size:  3mm/size C hook. Please see notes.

Gauge: 25 DCS and 9 rows per 10cm of DC swatch after blocking

Measurements: 168cm x 58cm

Abbreviations (US terms)

Ch – chain

Dc – double crochet

Sl st – slip stitch

DC2tog – DC two stitches together. 1 st decrease

DC3tog – DC 3 sts together. 2 sts decrease

DC2tog over 1 dc and 1 ch space – yarn over, insert hook in dc stitch, pull yarn through, pull yarn through first two loops on hook, yarn over again, insert hook in ch1 space, pull yarn through, pull it through first two loops on hook, yarn over, pull through the remaining loops.

Notes:

The shawl is worked from tip to tip and is shaped by increases and decreases placed on every row.

Please do a swatch or choose a hook size you feel comfortable working with when crocheting with 4ply yarn. I have a very loose gauge so I always use smaller hooks than recommended.

Throughout the pattern turning chain doesn’t count as a stitch. You will work in the very first and last stitch, not at the top of the turning chain.

Little picot loops on the side of the shawl are created by chaining 6 at the end of each WS row and then slip stitching into the first chain on the next row.

The edge might curl a little but it will straighten after blocking.
