Green Lace Neckwarmer

This was my first pattern design. It is a nice little neck warmer which looks good under coats and jackets.

Green Lace Neckwarmer Pattern

Yarn: Quince and Co Finch (4ply) 100% wool yarn

2x50g skeins.

Gauge: 6 sts per inch

(the row gauge isn’t important for this pattern)

I had around 30 grams left which was enough to knit my Green Fingers Fingerless Mitts.

Needles: 3.5 mm/US4 16 inch circular needle, 4mm/US 6 and 5mm/ US8 16 inch or longer circular needle.

Abbreviations

CO – cast on K – knit
P – purl

Pm – place marker

Slm – slip marker

Yo – yarn over

M1 – make 1 stitch by picking up a loop between two stitches and knitting into the back of it.

(…) – the sequence in brackets is the lace repeat

x 1 – the number after the x represents the number of times the lace pattern is to be repeated.

Slip 1 – slip the next stitch knitwise from the left to the right needle without working it.

Psso all 3 stitches – pass the slipped stitch over all 3 stitches

Drop the next loop – across the pattern, it is the loop created by a yarn over on a previous row.

Notes: the very first marker shows the beginning of the round and the place where the increases are going to be placed, like 3 other markers. It is a good idea to make the beginning of the round marker different to others so that you know when the round starts and ends.

Even though it is unnecessary, I find it useful to place a marker at the beginning and end of the lace repeat, that is, before you start knitting the sequence in brackets and after it.

The lace repeat is increased by 2 additional 4-stitch repeats every 8th row.

To begin:

Using the 3.5mm/US4  needle co 132 stitches loosely, place marker and join to work in the round. Work in 2×2 rib for 10 cm (4 inches) by working K2, P2 till the end of round.

Switch to 4mm/US6 size needles
