River Daisy Shawl

River Daisy is a beautiful little flower, pink on the outside, dark grey/purple in the centre. Just like this shawl.

Lightweight and easy to wrap around your neck, this shawl is a fun knit for summer. The lace is pretty straightforward and garter sections are perfect for Netflix knitting. The bottom of the shawl is shaped with a few shot rows, but fear not, no need to pick up the wraps as they don’t show in garter stitch!

Abbreviations:

RS – right side

KFB – knit front back

SSK – slip, slip, knit

K2tog – knit two stitches together

SK2PO – Slip the first stitch, knit the next two stitches together, pass the slipped stitch over the K2tog stitch

X – repeat. The number after “x” denotes how many times the sequence should be repeated.

W+T – wrap and turn

WST – wrapped stitch

Ktbl – knit stitch through the back loop

Notes:

I chose to cut the yarn between solid colour sections, but carried it up the side when working the last stripy lace section.

It will be much easier to know how many repeats of the lace section are to be worked in a row without counting if you place a marker before the first full repeat and after the last one and move it when another full repeat is added to the beginning and the end. One lace repeat is 14 stitches (see chart below)

There is no need to pick up wraps in the last section as they are not visible in garter stitch anyway. You can also work a German short row technique if you prefer, it won’t make any difference to the way the shawl will look.

I suggest using a very stretchy bind off to make sure the crescent shape can be properly blocked. I used Simple Stretchy Bind-off I give instructions for at the end of the pattern. You can also search Youtube for a video of how to work it. VeryPink Channel has a great clear tutorial on it.
